Sponsor the Name of 44 Heroes from the Battle of Vimy Ridge, 1917

June 28, 2017 — Ottawa, Ontario — Ottawa Service Battalion Association

Assisting military historian Norm Christie, the Ottawa Service Battalion Association (OSBA) has agreed to help raise funds to assist with the discovery and recovery of 44 Canadian Scottish soldiers of the 16th Canadian Infantry Battalion buried in a mine crater in France designated as site CA40.

Local Ottawa area companies have responded to the campaign to “Find our Boys” and have sponsored 11 of the 44 Heroes from the Battle of Vimy Ridge at $1,000 per name. With this being Canada’s 150th Anniversary and the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, these companies have expressed the need to contribute to the nation’s obligation to finding these war heroes.
All monies raised will go to the work underway to discover the resting place of the missing Vimy 44. Military historian Norm Christie, after examining many official military records, believes the Vimy 44 are still buried in a mine crater designated CA40.

To learn more about this important project, please contact Doug Hickey at 613-222-1996 or doughickey93@gmail.com. Speakers Norm Christie and Doug Hickey are available for any presentation. “Searching for Vimy’s Lost Soldiers” will air again this Canada Day (History Channel). July 1, 9:00pm (ET) and 11:00pm (ET).

Thank you.
